Omerta

A 12-player mode

City Mafia game online

City Mafia is the second Omerta mode: twelve players, more roles and a night that goes step by step. It is lighter and more relaxed than Classic — no rating, coins or XP, but a Doctor, a Seductress and a Maniac.

Updated

Who is at the table

Twelve players and three sides. The town: five Civilians, the Commissioner, the Doctor and the Seductress. The Mafia: the Don and two Mafia. The third side is the Maniac, who plays only for himself.

Cards are dealt as in Classic: everyone takes a face-down card within 15 seconds, with cameras and microphones off.

The roles

  • Civilian — sleeps at night; by day hunts the Mafia and the Maniac and votes them out.
  • Mafia — proposes a shot target at night; the Don makes the final call. Without a Don the last Mafia choice decides.
  • Don — decides whom the Mafia shoot and, in a separate step, searches for the Commissioner. Cannot check teammates.
  • Commissioner — checks one player every night: Mafia or not. The Don and the Maniac read as “not Mafia”.
  • Doctor — heals one player every night, and that player survives every shot of the night. Yourself once per game; the same player never two nights in a row.
  • Seductress — blocks one player every night, cancelling their night action. Not yourself, and not the same player two nights in a row.
  • Maniac — plays only for himself and shoots every night. Wins if he and one other player are the last alive.

How to switch a table to City Mafia

A new table always starts as Classic. The table creator switches it in Settings → Table rules → Variant. The City variant unlocks once your account has spent at least three hours in games on the site. Anyone can join a table that is already set to City Mafia.

The same settings tune the mode: a shot on the first night, the length of a day speech, whether the role of an eliminated player is shown, and whether a blind shot is announced.

The first night

With “First-night shot” on (the default), the first night is a full night with every step. Without it, the first night is a 60-second Mafia meeting, as in Classic.

The step-by-step night

Roles act one by one, and each step has its own timer. The step of an eliminated role is skipped. A choice is final on the first tap, and you may choose no one.

  • The Seductress blocks one player — 15 seconds.
  • The Mafia choose a target, the Don decides — 20 seconds. The black team see each other, and with an audio meeting also hear each other.
  • The Maniac shoots — 15 seconds.
  • The Doctor heals one player — 15 seconds.
  • The Commissioner checks one player — 15 seconds.
  • The Don searches for the Commissioner — 15 seconds.

The night result

The result is counted once, after the last step, in this order: block, then shots, then healing. A blocked player loses their action that night.

If any living Mafia member is blocked or no target is chosen, the Mafia shoot blind — at a random living player outside the Mafia. The Maniac with no target or under a block also shoots at random. The Doctor’s healing saves from every shot of the night. Two shots at one player are a crossfire, and the player dies only once.

Morning and day

In the morning the table learns only seat numbers and outcomes: “killed”, “attempt” — when the Doctor saved someone — or “crossfire”. Who shot, who was healed and who was blocked is never announced.

Every player killed at night gets 60 seconds for a last word. The day then works as in Classic — speeches, shouts, nominations and voting — but the table sets the speech length: 30, 45, 60 or 90 seconds. There is no first-day protection. On a second tie nobody is eliminated; there is no “lift everyone” vote.

Who wins

  • The town — when the whole Mafia and the Maniac are out.
  • The Mafia — when the Maniac is out and black players are at least as many as all other living players.
  • The Maniac — when only he and one other player are alive.
  • Three rounds in a row without an elimination — a draw.

Differences from Classic Mafia

  • 12 players instead of 10, and three sides instead of two.
  • A night of six steps of 15–20 seconds instead of a 7-second shot and a 7-second check phase.
  • The Don picks the Mafia target; in Classic the shot hits only if every living Mafia member picks the same target.
  • The Doctor can save a player from a shot — Classic has no saving.
  • The Commissioner finds only rank-and-file Mafia, while the Classic Sheriff sees the Don too.
  • No coins, XP or rating — it is a format for a relaxed evening.
